International Journal of Infertility and Fetal Medicine
Volume 11 | Issue 3 | Year 2020

Dear Readers,

Greetings!!!

I am excited to bring to you the last issue of IJIFM 2020. There have been some delays in the last few issues and my sincere apologies for the same. As you are all aware, there have been major changes in working patterns globally due to the Corona pandemic. We at IJIFM are doing our best to continue the good work and bring the best of evidence- based medicine to your doorsteps.

In the current issue, the first article is about the knowledge and practice of folic acid use in periconceptional period. Though the importance of folic acid in periconceptional period is well known for prevention of neural tube defects, adherence to this regimen is still apathetic. The article is about a cross-sectional study on 200 antenatal women, wherein only 16% of women took folic acid periconceptionally though around 76% of them had heard about folic acid. It is extremely important to create significant awareness in public about this essential intervention.

The review on artificial intelligence (AI) highlights the role AI can play in ART today. Artificial intelligence is being used in ART for witnessing, data storage, data collection and selecting the best embryo for transfer. AI holds a bright future in the field of ART in the form of reproductive surgery by robotics, sperm selection, deciding the best treatment algorithm for the patient and so on.

Gestational trophoblastic disease with a live fetus is a rare entity and poses diagnostic and therapeutic challenges for the treating physician. The coexistent molar with a live pregnancy is even rare after ART as embryos are assessed before transfer. A case series by Bansal V et al. describes the management of three such cases.

Case reports on conjoint twins and heterotopic pregnancy underline the management of these challenging cases in different clinical scenarios.

Hope you find this issue interesting.

We await your feedback and further contributions to IJIFM in the future.

Stay safe, stay Healthy!!!

Warm regards

Harpreet Kaur
